Many people have argued about the existence of a "deep state" within the U.S. government, calling the shots and exerting power and control over sitting U.S. presidents. While many simply dismiss the claim as conspiracy theory, under Donald Trump we watched as his efforts and legitimacy were continuously undermined by career bureaucrats in Washington. While it's possible to still argue about the extent to which these bureaucrats will go, it is impossible to deny that there is a permanent class of Washington elitists determined to maintain their way of doing things!
