I forgot to mention examples like school shootings; it's taken for granted by most people that some people "just go crazy". Or a scientist working on some cutting-edge technology will suddenly just get really sad and shoot himself in the back of the head. Or really the disproven idea of random crime and how it's used to justify more stringent laws to protect 'worthy victim' classes. Maybe I should start a blog...
