WALKING ON TREADMILL VS. OUTSIDE
In this video, we went over the differences between walking on a treadmill and walking outside.
In short, when we walk on the treadmill, our hips stay still as we move over the foot, in comparison to when we walk outside and the hip is moving over the foot. There is a stronger ground reaction force taking place when walking outside because to generate movement we must firmly push off the ground, in comparison to the treadmill where rely more on hip flexion to propel ourselves. We also have to take into consideration the foot rotating on angled surfaces that the treadmill does not provide. Not to mention, the sunlight and fresh air we get outside!
