Situated on the border between the cantons of Berne and Obwalden, the mountain can be accessed from Engelberg by aerial cableway. The main stage of the trip transports guests to the Stand top station, where they can then transfer to the Titlis Rotair cable car, which revolves 360° during the five-minute ride to the summit. The glacier – the only one in the region – is a popular excursion destination all year round. The panorama of the surrounding mountains is simply breathtaking. The Ice Flyer chairlift sweeps guests smoothly and safely over the imposing glacier, treating them to spectacular aerial views. Those who do not have a head for heights can inspect the mass of ice at close quarters from down below: the glacier cave, made up of millions of tiny, sparkling ice crystals, is located 20 meters (66 ft) below the surface of the glacier. Another unique feature on the Titlis is the Swiss Lion Shop, the highest-lying watch shop in the world.
In winter, Mt. Titlis is regarded as the skiing and snowboarding paradise of Central Switzerland. The longest downhill run is 12 km (7.5 miles) long and covers an altitude difference of 2,000 meters (6,560 ft). An additional 80 km of slopes offer plenty of fun and variety. Further winter activities in the Titlis-Engelberg ski area include tobogganing, cross-country skiing, winter hiking and snowshoe trekking.
