I believe pushing a large plasma container onto the ramp, before activating the elevator, helped end them.

in the end, all I needed to do was take out the jackels and sword Tremonius into a corner. Then keep him there as I sliced from below. Needless to say; I was both shocked and relieved at how easy it was to take him down. Thank You Bandana Skull!
