Mount Semeru erupted on Friday, December 24, 2021, at 23:19 WIB with the height of the ash column observed ± 300 m above the peak (± 3976 m above sea level). The ash column is observed to be white to gray with thick intensity towards the southwest. This eruption was recorded on a seismograph with a maximum amplitude of 22 mm and a duration of 1600 seconds.
