Please Don't Let Them
Please Don't Let Them is a song I wrote that attempts to give the unborn child some sort of voice in the decision-making process (to have or not have an abortion). I'm by no means a theologian, a Bible scholar or a pastor, I'm just a Christian singer/songwriter. I don't try to push off my beliefs on others, but I figure if people don't agree with my songs they don't have to listen to them. Please Don't Let Them is by far and away the most controversial song I've ever written, and for that reason I almost didn't release it. But I believe God has given me the the talents I possess (singing/songwriting/guitar playing, etc.) and to hide my talents away would be an affront to my creator. So even though I've spent most of my life going out of my way to avoid controversy, this subject (unborn children not having a voice in the decision), is so important that I'm willing to take whatever heat comes my way. I do not blame or condemn women for having abortions. My song attempts to change their minds before they go through with an irreversible procedure, but it does not cast blame. I don't think human beings are capable of determining what kind of life an aborted child would or would not have had... that's in God's hands. I am very libertarian in my beliefs and I don't believe in controlling citizens by passing laws. I believe God loves all people and that sins are forgivable through belief in Jesus Christ and repentance. The Bible says that God knew us even before creation of the world. – just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and blameless before Him (Ephesians 1:4) The Bible also says that God formed us in our mother's womb – Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you, (Jeremiah 1:5), Before I was born the Lord called me; from my mother’s womb he has spoken my name. (Isaiah 49:1), For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. (Psalm 139:13), From birth I was cast on you; from my mother’s womb you have been my God. (Psalm 22:10).
