What is a Registered Agent & When Do You Need One??

If you form a business entity within the U.S., every entity must appoint a registered agent within the same state to receive service of process.

The registered agent's name and address are listed in the public state database where you created your LLC.

In some cases, as the business owner, you can serve as your own registered agent. In other cases, you cannot.

In this video, I discuss why it is generally best to always appoint a company to serve as your corporate registered agent, even in cases where you might be able to serve as your own.
