How to take the next step in improving at an intermediate level.
What's the next step in getting better from an intermediate level?

When world class dancers dance in front of a camera or crowd they dance different to how they dance socially when they do it purely for enjoyment. So unless your goal is to also become a "video dancer" or "stage dancer" or a really good social dancer ? Determine your goal and proceed from there.

private classes and joining a professional dance team.

Private classes from an instructor who you deem better than you, who you respect and are willing to be humble and learn. Private classes is what takes you from Intermediate to Advanced.

Join a dance team because of the amount of times you will be dancing. If its a legit dance team the head person will be a professional, who you will respect.

Honestly thinking about it, join a dance team if you cannot afford privates regularly.

If its a well known dance team with an amazing director, you will level up immensely.

I joined a dance team and that was a level up. I practice 3x a week minimum, and the choreo will show you new patterns. Plus they stress technique and basics so much.
1. Join a legit pro dance team
2. Take privates.

edit: I fucking HATED performing, I HATE IT.
But the practice sessions alone are worth the anxiety I always got back stage.
If you truly want to become advanced, your going to have to push yourself outside your comfort zone.
