When giant, multilateral institutions like the world bank lends you money, you better be prepared to show exactly how, when, who, and where it went. And in addition to all the paper works, you will have to fill out and show the kickbacks you will miss out on, you might even be required to implement policy reforms. Aid in other words is both free and extremely costly. That is until China came along. The icing on the cake of Chinese money is that its companies don’t ask - why do you need this project, only - when can we get started! China is very generous, China cares so much about the welfare of Africa as a continent and the people of Africa as a whole. With that being considered, China likes to help African countries in building infrastructures and making huge projects like roads, railways, airports and etc that cost billions of dollars. How generous they could be. However, it looks as such all these projects turns to be one that doesn’t flourish which ends up being an empty property for the state or the process other people will term as “Dept Trap” - More in the Video
