Grand Confluence

Confluence is the junction of elements. The tunnel is
where art, architecture, landscape, lighting and culture
flow together to create a kinetic environment. Inspired
by the City’s goal to restore the rapids, the tunnel is
clad with metal panels that wrap the ceiling and east
wall. These panels sense pedestrians moving through
the space and fold in a manner to mimic the motion of
flowing water. Blue tinted acrylic panels are backlit behind
the folding panels, generating a near-underwater
experience.
