How I Painted A Non-Typical Whitetail Portrait

In early 2006 I walked into a local sporting goods store, looked across the way and laid eyes on this “Jaw Dropping” whitetail mount hanging on the wall. I later contacted the owner of that mount and made arrangements to borrow it for a few days to gather the appropriate reference material for a future painting. At the time I knew I probably didn’t possess the artistic maturity to successfully create a painting that projected my vision for this incredible deer, so I put it on the back burner. Waiting all these years to sharpen up my artistic skills before attempting to tackle this piece was the right move and here is the final product which stretched my abilities to the max!
