The UK sent an aircraft carrier to visit Asia. The port of Yokosuka near Tokyo was visited on 6 Sep 2021.

Ahem, the UK, nothing east of Suez, we are regional, is sending its principal naval assets to the far east.

Why? Probably because post brexit England has the US as its ally, and has been asked or forced into doing what it is told to do. This emphasis on the Pacific is referred to as the Tilt to Asia.
The royal navies idea of imposing itself on the other side of the world is not new. The Singapore Naval base was an excellent example of its intents exceeding its capabilities.
Boris Johnson, UK PM has stated he does not want confrontation.

The tsar did not consider confrontation when it sent a fleet to Vladivostok, provoking the Japanese. In the early 20th century Japan was the only power in the Far East.

The US probably thought the move of the fleet from San Francisco to Hawaii would have no consequences, and in fact anyone who asks if the contemporaries considered consequences is considered to be a nut case conspiracy theorist. In the 1930’s Japan was the only power in the Far East

And of course, the encirclement of China in the alliance of democracies will have no effect whatsoever. Especially since the Chinese demographic time bomb is ticking. In contemporary times, China is the only real power in the Far East. The tilt to Asia is aimed at China, and will be interpreted as so by the Chinese.

Prediction Dalek says that a global economic meltdown would make for interesting times in Asia, and the desire to have Russian help would tend to an agreement being reached regarding the Ukraine and Oil and gas pipelines.
