A possible Ichthyosaur fossil may have been recently discovered in Antarctica. The host of 2ndEarth, Felipe, mentioned in an episode a couple years ago that though Ichthyosaur fossils only reach 70 ft at the time of the discovery, he believes this 115ft anomaly may still be a fossil despite it's unprecedented size. The next year the paleontology story of the year was that Ichthyosaurs are 33% bigger than previously thought, possibly big enough to surpass Blue Whales. After some brief research 2ndEarth discovered that Ichthyosaurs are commonly being uncovered in Antarctica. In addition the exact iceless outcropping where this potential fossil rests, is in Lambert Glacier Valley, an area that used to be a lazy river prior to Antarctica freezing over around 30 million years ago. The best preserved fossil (nodosaur) in the world, with skin tissues and soft muscle tissue fossilized was preserved in a lazy river!
