The American Constitution and the Slave - Is the Constitution pro-slavery or anti-slavery? Frederick Douglass teaches

Frederick Douglass defends the Constitution. Many abolitionists in his day had misguided views about the Founding Fathers and the Constitution. Douglass was ready to set them straight.

This is a direct reproduction of a speech from 1860, while Douglass was on a speaking tour in Glasgow, Scotland. He gave two speeches of very similar content: "The Constitution of the United States: is it pro-slavery or anti-slavery" and "The American Constitution and the Slave".
