George Hill committed suicide believing that his life insurance policies would save his farm. There's a clause in almost all life insurance policies regarding NOT paying out for suicides. The plight of his wife's struggle to save the farm, made the national news, and Mr. Trump (back then) stepped in and quietly saved the day. Called the mortgage holder, threatened him with criminal charges if he went through with it, (documented in his book, the Art of the Deal) and then gave the wife $20,000 to get her mortgage caught up.
