Although at first glance all the species may seem overwhelming which causes a lot of confusion and errors in identifying this type of pibas, there are significant differences between them. There are several types of Peacok Bass fish consisting of 15 species (Kullander & Ferreira, 2006) plus 1 newly discovered species.
