These aren't as difficult as they seem after doing about 4 or 5 of them. One key thing is how well you can see the work as you go. Usually if you can see what you're doing you can succeed.

No-Clean flux is used here and it usually works fine. Real flux works better when needed. The knife edge tip works but you may have more success with the smallest pointed tip you have.

Also it's important not to overheat the chip. If you have a steady enough hand (Which we don't) and very thin solder you could touch the tip of the iron to the pad only and the solder will flow around the lead so you don't need to touch the soldering iron even to the lead of the chip.
