Every Friday we gather at the Bridge of Remembrance in Christchurch to continue this generation’s movement to reclaim freedom for all New Zealanders.
We join together to make it known that we do not consent to living in a divided, segregated society.

For those interested in the significance of using Silent Night as the soundtrack for this Vigil, this was due to its role in the Christmas truce of 1914. On Christmas Eve a German Officer and sometime member of the Berlin Opera, Walter Kirchhoff, sang the carol in both German and English and is credited with encouraging the exchange of songs, greetings and gifts between the opposing soldiers.
