Crumble Cake Stuffed Apples

CAKE
2 ½ cups unbleached flour (I used oat flour)
1 teaspoon cinnamon
½ teaspoon ground cloves
2 teaspoons baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
4 large eggs
1 cup applesauce
1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract
1 ½ cups light brown sugar
1 cup vegetable oil

TOPPING
½ cup light brown sugar
¾ cup unbleached flour
1 ½ teaspoons cinnamon
5 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened, sliced
6 large apples
2 tablespoons lemon juice

OPTIONAL:: vanilla ice cream, caramel sauce, whipped cream, cinnamon
