We zoom in on the privately owned Tocobaga site which is in the middle of busy Pinellas County, and home of The Archer Geoglyph...a series of narrow canals dug in the figure of Orion with His Bow and Arrow, pointing at Orion Constellation to the South Southeast as it rises on December 21st at sunset
Also shown are the surrounding residential sites occupied from around 700-800 AD until the arrival of the Spanish in the 16th century.
Digging of the adjacent Barge Canal saw 24 flatcars of indian artifacts extracted and removed to the Smithsonian in 1915.
The Barge Canal stretches across Pinellas County in its entirety, and is now a beautiful backwater area with miles of mangrove lined canals and lagoons, oyster beds, and fishing like no other place in Florida.
