Dangerous Deck Inspection - Catastrophe Waiting to Happen - Galloway Building Services

During a deck inspection Troy Galloway could immediately tell based on the paint job that this deck was hiding a lot of dangerous secrets.

The deck posts were not sitting on any footing, they weren't attached to the concrete, some were sitting in the dirt, and another was propped up by a paver. The beam on the underside was a simple 2 by 4, the floor joists span over 12 feet, and there is no way this deck will handle the required load capacity. The entire deck was rotting which is the real reason why it was painted over. A lot of the band board is missing, steps were not the required 3 feet wide, and the balusters were all crooked. This deck is a catastrophe waiting to happen.
