Although many fad diets and fat-burning supplements promise quick results, modifying your diet, lifestyle, and exercise routine is the most effective way to reach and maintain a healthy weight. Plus, you can take several simple steps to promote long-lasting, sustainable fat loss while improving your overall health.

Strength training may help decrease body fat levels, increase resting energy expenditure, and target belly fat. Eating protein-rich food may be associated with a lower risk of belly fat. Plus, it may decrease appetite, lower calorie intake, and preserve muscle mass. Getting enough sleep may help reduce your appetite and hunger levels and lower your risk of weight gain. The higher you intake healthy fats, such as olive oil and nuts, is associated with the lower risk of weight gain. Sugar-sweetened beverages and alcoholic drinks may be linked to a higher risk of increased belly fat. Replace them with green tea or water, which have been shown to increase weight loss and fat burning.
