Joey Gilbert Endorsed for Nevada Governor by “Am I The Only One” singer Aaron Lewis

Singer Aaron Lewis seemed to be preaching to the choir as his urges to support the former boxer fighting for the state’s top spot were enthusiastically received.

“Do your state a favor, vote Joey Gilbert in for your next governor,” Lewis told the pumped-up crowd at Reno's Silver Legacy Resort Casino. “Do it for your kids, for your grandparents, for yourselves.”

Without any prompting, the crowd launched into raucous chants of, “Joey! Joey! Joey!” bookended with whistles and cheers.

“If my driver's license said Nevada on it, I'd be voting for Joey,” Lewis continued when the chanting subsided. He introduced the attorney who helped reopen Nevada churches as, “The next Governor of Nevada.” Gilbert then strode onto the stage and the two shared a handshake and a hug.

As Gilbert exited the stage, he demonstrated an uppercut to the cheering crowd. The self-proclaimed Northern Redneck segued into his song, proclaiming, “This is for Joey,” before performing his chart-topping conservative anthem to an appreciative audience.

“Am I the only one?” he sang, followed with the stanza, “willing to fight/ for my love of the red and white/ and the blue burning on the ground/ another statue's coming down in a town near you.”

Lewis is the lead singer for the nu-metal rock band “Staind,” but has made a big splash this year as a solo country artist with the angst-driven song he co-wrote with country songwriters Ira Dean and Jeffrey Steele.

Though Lewis was raised in Vermont, the home state of Bernie Sanders, his music tastes were formed by music blasting from 8-track cartridges his parents played.
