Fearless toddler climbs into high chair on his own

Montessori encourages independence but it doesn’t mean that high chairs are not Montessori-aligned. Tripp Trapp-style high chairs have a step that allows a child to climb to their seat independently and participate in family meal times.

We have been using a combination of a high chair and a weaning table since Jackson learned to sit upright to ease mealtime independence.

Jackson is 20 months old but has been trying to climb his high chair since he turned a year old. He recently mastered climbing in and out of his high chair unassisted.
