Based on Herman Melville's story "Bartleby the Scrivener"

In 1840 New York, a man presents himself for employment at a legal firm for the position of "Law Copyist". The man is an enigma who only does what he wants when he wants and his favorite response to most anything ask of him is "I would prefer not to". His employer is very patient for the most part but his even temper begins to disintegrate with time causing him to move his offices in an effort to be rid of Bartleby. You get the gist of the film but I will not spoil the ending. For that just watch the short film.

Actors are, Barry Williams from the TV sitcom, "The Brady Bunch" James Westerfield was in two of my favorites, "True Grit" and "Hang Em High", Patrick Campbell as Bartleby, Tom Brown Henry, Tony Joachim, Michael Quinn, Gil Rankin, Vern E. Rowe, Brian Wood, Larry Barton, Billy Beck, Joe Billings, Lincoln Demyan, John J Fox, Arthur Gould-Porter, Alvin Hammer
