Entering the Volcanic Zone with Snow Flurries – Central Oregon – Edison Sno-Park – 4K

My goal of these wilderness trail videos is to 1) show reverence for the beauty of the land, and 2) give YOU actionable trail information that can assist you in planning your own hike here.

This was a day-hike in Central Oregon, Deschutes National Forest near Mount Bachelor, starting at Edison Sno-Park and hiking Long Snowshoe Loop and parts of Tesla Snowshoe Loop ultimately to Edison Shelter. Due to the lack of snow accumulation, it was not necessary to deploy snowshoes and trekking poles and the passable direction/route of the hike was impacted, so this was hiked as a meandering classic boot packin' forest hike in the snow. Weather was well below freezing, temperature was 21 with wind chill down to 13 with strong to minor snow flurries and occasional periods of calm. The sky was mostly overcast but the sun came out near the end. This was hiked on 12/9/2021 and there were of course NO Mosquitoes. As far as road conditions, it's highway to the Edison Sno-Park parking lot which is in great condition. In my opinion, the road most definitely DOES NOT require 4-Wheel Drive, however do watch for road conditions as far as snow/ice and plan accordingly.
