An intro into Mantra based meditation

Last year I graduated completing the Primordial Sound Meditation Course with the Chopra Centre

I first found meditation by listening to Deepak Chopra só have always followed his work

The word mantra can be broken down into two parts: “man,” which means mind, and “tra,” which means transport or vehicle.

In other words, a mantra is an instrument of the mind, a powerful sound or vibration that we can use to enter a deep state of meditation.

Mantras are one way we can meditate and a great way to keep us present as it pulls us back in the moment as soon as we notice our mind start wondering

Mantras have no meaning and this allows us to connect to the universal consciousness, that magical place.

If I we used words like cat dog rabbit, our mind already has attached a meaning to it and we would end up thinking about those animals.

Meditation is about going past thought

The mantras given always come in 3 sounds

Ohm. Bija. Namaha

Ohm is the universal sound, sound of the universe

This represents the ocean. That emptiness that we all come from before being born

The bija (the seed) this vibration represents the wave - the unique human experience

The Vedics identified 108 unique sounds of the universe many years ago.

So depending on

When you were born?
Where you were born?
What time you were born?

You would be given your own unique sound, this is called the Bija, so if you do not have your sound, saying Bija is a great place to start

Finally is the Namaha, the wave returning in on itself - the return stage, the dying phase returning into the ocean of consciousness

This is another tool we can use for meditation and I also repeat my mantra when ever I feel I want to bring myself back to a calm state
