Today we're talking about those satirical and funny you know 2A self-defense signs you see them on cars you see them posted in front of houses and how they could affect you if you were ever forced to defend yourself but before we begin show your support for the Second Amendment by hitting that like button so Emily what are we talking about signs bumper stickers um you see them all the time we don't call 9-1-1 keep honking i'm reloading um we actually on the way to lunch today on the back of a pickup truck saw one that said and i loved this but it said live laugh love and if that doesn't work load aim and fire it's great it's funny you know but a really really bad idea for those of us who ever might be placed in the situation of having to defend ourselves with our firearm richard why is that yeah we see this come into court all too frequently and let's say you were involved in a road rage incident and you had a bumper sticker that said keep honking i'm reloading you better believe that the police investigators are going to be taking photographs of that bumper sticker and it's going to make it into the district attorney's file and if this case goes to trial it's going to go to a jury and if that is just the one piece of evidence that could tip the scales especially you know road rage is a really common example but a lot of times that's just a he said he said case two two people giving their testimony and who's the jury gonna believe and you just have this one little tiny piece of evidence that might tip the scales just slightly and so you know we see that crime scene investigation we see it on social media investigators will go do social media dumps pull all the pictures that you have uh with all these kind of cheeky sayings on them and things like that and i think while we're in that vein i mean your t-shirts that are like you know i mean gosh we just saw a t-shirt in a very high profile case Kyle Rittenhouse try to be brought into evidence when you go t-shirts about self-defense in the Second Amendment imagine having to get into a critical defensive incident while wearing that t-shirt that t-shirt is going to be plastered everywhere in front of the jury and i know we all like to think gosh if i had to defend myself or my family it would absolutely be justified there would be no question and unfortunately and Richard and i see hundreds of these cases a year it is almost never cut and dried your self-defense incident never plays out in the way you think oh gosh i would only ever do it in this circumstance and everyone's gonna know i did the right thing it never happens that way yeah and what i what i like to think or tell clients is if you wouldn't be comfortable with a state's exhibit sticker being placed on that side or bumper sticker or a t-shirt and it admitted in front of a jury then you might want to hit the brakes as far as you know actually using it placing the bumper sticker on your car wearing the shirt so you know you never know how this stuff is going to shake out but that brings us to our pro tip of the day and there is one sign that we do recommend people use and what is that Emily you can't get yourself in trouble with a no trespassing sign very generic also it's great in most jurisdictions it's going to take what could be a civil trespass turn it immediately into a criminal trespass because they've been warned so i mean you don't have to warn them again before they can be arrested for being on your property those no trespassing signs they can't get you in trouble and they're very useful...
