Shot 65(-5) Par 70

Our 5th national championships is in the books, and it's certainly one for the history books! The entire field played some very impressive Speedgolf, many setting personal records. Congratulations to all the competitors! The energy and momentum are undeniable!

Garrett Holt deserves enormous credit for hosting a professionally run tournament at Horton Smith Golf Course, overseeing event production, sponsorship & volunteer activation, media attraction, and day of coordination/supervision. Many of our participants are also event hosts and know what goes into pulling off a successful SG event, so congratulations and thank you Garrett. BTW, he carded 74-78 in 45 minutes. Impressive playing by a PGA Head Pro! Hats off to the Horton superintendent and maintenance crew as well. The course was in great condition despite the scattered rain showers.

Shawn Moore deserves a lot of credit as well. He's someone who helps get things off the ground. 5 years ago he helped Speedgolf take off in Springfield. And through Honor Flight of the Ozarks, Shawn is helping veterans take off and fly to DC where they can bring honor to, and be honored by, their war memorials. I appreciate Shawn's passion and sense of ownership over Speedgolf. He played an instrumental role in securing the volunteers for the tournament.

I'm thrilled that our event was able to raise $1,500 for Honor Flight of the Ozarks! *In case you missed it, Honor Flight awarded Garrett a guardian grant to travel with a group of veterans on a future trip to DC. So cool!

A special thank you to the powerhouse media production team of Nick & Farrah at Pinkstreak Speedgolf, and to seasoned Speedgolf videographer Jeremy Stanton! We have some seriously great footage of this year's championship, and I plan to make the most of your incredible efforts to capture history in the act!

*Pictures of the event will be available soon on SGU Facebook Page, and at www.parispics.net.

To this year's national champions, congratulations on your winning performances! After our practice rounds on Saturday, a few players felt the winning score in the Open division would be under 225. An indeed it was.

The Hawk Soars in Springfield, with rounds of 72 and 73 in 38 minutes for a record smashing total score of 221:23.

Lauren Cupp captures her 3rd title, turning in the low Women's division score of 253:53, with rounds of 78 and 77 in 48 and 50 minutes.

Nicholas Sloop wins the Amateur Master's division with rounds of 81 and 80 in 49 and 50 minutes for a total score of 261:42.

Playing with a foot injury, Paul Kivela barrels through the pain to capture the Amateur Senior division title with rounds of 74 in 47 and 84 in 52 - 258:44.

The 18-hole division winner is Shawn Moore who shot 78 in 65 minutes. Congrats!!!
