We learn the truth that showing mercy toward others is a blessing to the one being merciful. But we also touch on the question of motive. Why are you being merciful, loving, charitable? Is it for selfish motives or for Biblical motives? Once that is settled, we see that being merciful is our reasonable response to our most merciful and loving Saviour, Jesus Christ.
