Rejected Stones
Wayne Pennington
In the book of Matthew, “Jesus says to them, (religious leaders of the day) did you never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes?”
Jesus, who did nothing but good, was rejected by men, but God made Him the Chief Corner Stone for His new Church. It is wonderful how God take takes the rejected things of this world and uses them for His Glory.
Joseph was rejected by his brothers and sold unto slavery but God used Him for His Glory. Moses rejected Egypt to help his brethren. He even went so far as to commit murder for them. But they rejected him and God make him their deliverer. Rahab the harlot was kept in the top of the town towers, rejected by her town, but God put her in the blood line of Jesus Christ. David was rejected by his father, brothers and King Saul. But God made him the King of Israel. When the woman was caught in adultery and the entire town was ready to kill her, Jesus wanted the rejected. The woman at the well had been rejected by 5 husbands and rejected by her town, but Jesus cherished the rejected.
Are you a rejected stone? Do you feel you have nothing to offer God or other people? Do you feel rejected by your church? Like Jesus, Peter, James and John? Do you feel your life has been broken into a million pieces and nothing is right anymore? Are you heart broken and no one seems to care? Then you are a broken, rejected stone that God wants to build His Church with. You see God is a Master Builder. He does not go to the lumber yard to get his building supplies. He goes to the valleys and caves where the fallen are forgotten. Where the novice builder dares not venture. Because the world does not know how to build with anything but smooth square stones. But God uses the rough rejected stones, builds a master piece out of them and it is wonderful in our eyes.
