MORE THAN 50 DEAD IN MEXICO MIGRANT TRUCK CRASH

55 people were killed and more than 100 injured after a tractor-trailer carrying smugglers from Guatemala, Ecuador, the Dominican Republic and Honduras crashed into a bridge and overturned.

The truck was carrying about 250 migrants when it crashed into a bridge in southern Mexico.

According to the Associated Press, some of the survivors fled the scene because they had no documents.

The truck driver also fled the scene, his whereabouts are unknown.

Injured survivors being treated at a hospital near Tuxtla Gutierrez described the disaster:

“Those unlucky enough to collide with the fragile walls of a shipping container almost certainly died, say survivors. Those who were in the middle of the filled group survived, they were supported by fellow migrants when they flew out onto the road. "

“Those killed who ran into the walls of the trailer,” said one young migrant from Guatemala, who was being treated for a broken arm at a local hospital.
"Thank God we were in the middle, but those on the sides died."
