Stonefish is a type of reef fish that is uniquely shaped because it looks like rock or coral fragments. Not only its shape, its body color is so integrated with the surrounding environment that it is difficult to distinguish it from coral. His disguise skills make his presence often unnoticed. Even though this fish is very dangerous if it is exposed to its poisonous thorns and can cause fatal injury to humans
Stonefis (Synanceia verrucosa) has a body length of between 30 and 40 cm and is a type of carnivorous fish that lives at the bottom of coral reefs.
They use sharp spines on the outside of the rock fish to immobilize their prey.
They hunt prey by hiding in strategic places crossed by many small fish.
At high speed the stone fish will eat the small fish that are off guard. Stonefish generally live in marine waters with the bottom of the substrate in the form of coral or rocks.
But not infrequently these fish are found burying themselves in the sand.
