How to Make Biscuits that are Fluffy like Rolls

This method of making an old fashioned biscuit makes them look and feel more like a roll.

NOW FOR THIS DELICIOUS RECIPE:
HAND ROLLED BISCUITS
5 LB. SELF RISING FLOUR (PACKED TIGHT IN A BOWL)
1 PINCH SODA
2/3 CUP SHORTENING
WHOLE BUTTERMILK ABOUT 1 1/2 CUPS
PREHEAT OVEN TO 450 DEG. F.
Pack your flour in a large bowl. Add soda, shortening and half of milk. Go ahead and grease the sheet pan with shortening. Using your hand squeeze the shortening into the milk until it is about pea sized. Add the rest of the milk and continually work the dough around in the bowl by turning the bowl as you work it. It will pull flour from the sides and bottom into the dough. Once you have incorporated a good bit of flour into the dough start squeezing it through your fingers to finish. You will have to stop incorporating flour into the dough when you feel the dough getting thick enough to pinch off a biscuit. Wash your hands, then flour your hands and fold dough a couple of times in the bowl. Start pinching off enough dough to make a biscuit and roll it as shown in my video tutorial. Bake biscuits on a greased sheet pan at 450 degrees until light golden brown (about 20 minutes). Enjoy.
