Barely 18% Of Families Have Married Parents In The USA

Children have to be able to rely on their parents -- and this context is lacking in more American youth today.

The Census Bureau reports that only 17.8% have married parents and children, down from 40% in 1970.

Only 23.1 Million American homes have 'nuclear families', the lowest since 1959. A continuing drop in birthrate, and a pandemic that delayed marriage are some of the reasons why this has happened.

A woman's average age at the time of her first marriage is currently 28.6. In the 1950s, 20.4 year old women were married. On average, men were 30.4 years of age when they married their first time in 2021. America's fertility rates dropped to 55.4 births every 1,000 during the second quarter (2021), compared with 58.5 for the same period in 2019.

Americans live alone at an even higher rate now than before. Half of American adults now live without a partner, as opposed to 52 percent ten years ago. As compared with 33 million individuals living alone in 2011, more than 37,000,000 adults were single in 2021. As early as 1960, almost 87 per cent of all adults were married.
