Matthew 4:1-4 and Bread from Stones

Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. And after fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. And the tempter came and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, command these stones to become loaves of bread.” But he answered, “It is written, “‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”
Matthew 4:1-4

Yeshua literally went out into the desert without food and was literally tempted by the devil to do tricks to prove his identity.

But there's a lot more going on in this passage than the literal meaning of the words. Stones aren't always stones and bread isn't always bread. Sometimes they're people, and waiving a magic wand to turn hard hearted people into faithful servants of the Kingdom wasn't in his mission plan. It takes time, trials, and every word that comes from the mouth of YHWH."
