Custom Wooden PC Case - VID 18
This is the last video showing the process I went through making my first wooden pc case. The last video of me installing the radiator, the hard drive bracket, and completing the install has been lost/deleted, so this will be it.
I have been using this setup now for about 6 months with very little issues. I have had to take off a few pieces and remove about 1/16 off of them (the top front door assembly, the power/reset/USB/blu-ray tray, and the wooden back cover behind it). All of these had to be lightly sanded/cut due to heat expansion, to allow the pieces to open/close or be removed properly. I have also had to redo the hold-down for the power switch on the USB3 controller. Otherwise, this PC case has worked really well for PC cooling and as an end-table next to the couch. These were my two goals going into this, to make something that looks more like furniture than a PC case and make something that has far better cooling and dust filtration than my current PC case (which was a Cooler Master HAF XB EVO).
For those you that have watched any of these (18 parts), I would like to say thank you and apologize for the crappy audio and video. Making these videos was kind of the last focus on what I was doing here, that ,and I recorded this using a web cam (Logitech HD Pro Webcam C920) and a handheld waterproof camera (Fujifilm FinePix XP200). Also, this was a first attempt at recording myself while working, which does make doing the actual work more difficult (so I give props to everyone on YouTube who make it look easy).
During the time of me building this and posting this last clip, I have got my hands on 2 laser CNC machines (I have already fixed one of them up), a 3D printer, a wood lathe, and a 1981 Yamaha S650 (I believe that is the model). So, I will likely start working on one of these projects here in the future. I have been doing a handful of CNC work on my one machine, from engraving portraits and engraving rocks (for my daughters) to making wooden notebooks and clipboards (I am also trying to work on a file to laser CNC a wooden PC case). So, if you guys would be interested in videos (more of a how to video explaining my steps) of laser CNC work, more videos of actual wood working projects, or more videos involving me attempting to fix up the other CNC, the motorcycle, or the go-cart built from an old Murray riding lawn mower, please let me know in the comments below.
