how to clean a cast iron pan without kosher salt

Sometimes you cook with cast iron...and for me a lot of the time I do not clean it right away. This is my method of cleaning without using kosher salt.

Add just enough water to cover the bottom of the pan. Put the heat on medium to high. Let the water come to a boil and remove from heat. Take a rag----avoid paper towels they leave lint and stuff behind----wipe the pan out, use a wooden spoon or soft spatula to remove an stubborn stuff....when the pan is clean out just preseason.
