Street Photography: Isolation Keeps Me Sharp, Grateful

I work alone more often than not. It’s not that I’m antisocial, but since my teen years I tend to just jet off and get into my work/passions.
Honestly, I believe it keeps me sharp.
Street photography, indeed, is a solitary practice: on the corners, observe then capture. However, each time I’m in the field I question where my work is going. What value is it bringing to my audience? How can I improve and innovate exponentially?
Working in isolation also reminds me how lonely human existence can be. Moreover, how fortunate I am to have a loving partner and family/friends that value my company. It wasn’t always like this, coming from a dude who was facing homelessness a few short years ago.
After spending a night on the block, or cruising through Arizona on a 14-hour day, I return home renewed and far more grateful for my wealth. That wealth being my health, a roof over my head and a woman I adore.Show more
