Unboxing Of Mission Battery Shell for Amazon Echo 2nd Generation: Make Your Echo Portable

We have been big fans of the Amazon Echo at our house, having purchased the original when it was released, the Echo Dot, and now the 2nd Gen device. I've enjoyed watching as they have improved the platform over the years. It is now an integral part of our lives.

One thing that we haven't had with the devices is portability. While the Amazon Tap has a portable battery built in, the device isn't as nice as the Echo 2nd generation, and we'd prefer to be able to take that one with us out in the yard, in the garage or wherever.

I recently discovered this Mission Battery Shell for the Amazon Echo 2nd generation, and it has everything we wanted. It makes the Echo portable, it seamlessly switches from being plugged in to taking it out in the yard with no interruption to the music, and it gives you up to 8 hours of playtime.

Oh, and it's super easy to install as you can see in our video.

We've been using it for a short time and thus far it seems to be well made, durable, has a great non-slip rubberized base on it (to avoid it falling off a table or wherever), and does exactly what it's advertised to do.

I wouldn't hesitate to buy this device again, and would recommend it to anyone looking to make their Echo 2 a more portable platform.

The only real downside that I can find for the unit, which is a small one, is that I can't find a way to turn off the bright blue LEDs on the device. For some that may be a bit annoying, I know, but I've quickly gotten used to it.
