DYLAN, PRINCE, MARLEY, AND 'MATS IN FUNKYTOWN, MN

Author and journalist, Martin Keller spent quality time with Minnesota's favorite sons Prince and Bob Dylan. He also chronicled the rise of indie rockers Husker Du and the Replacements and once shared the magic herb with brother Bob Marley. He tells us about it all and more, including the unlikely hit Funkytown, by local heroes Lipps Inc and how Minneapolis is faring now in the post George Floyd environment. Along the way, we dig into the recent Beatles documentary Get Back, and the demise of weekly newspapers and alt-rock criticism.
His book “Hijinx and Hearsay: Scenester Stories from Minnesota’s Pop Life” with photographer Greg Helgeson is available everywhere.
