Nickel Plate 8100 - Departing Luther Yard
2 years ago
23
Actual departure starts at 3:23, skip to there if you want the departure.
NS 8100, the NKP heritage unit, made its way through the St. Louis area today. It stopped over in Luther Yard (North St. Louis) to drop off and pick up containers on its way to Georgia (NS train 223). I waited for over an hour for it to depart. The clouds and lighting changed drastically from when 223 was switching to when 223 departed.
The first two clips are of the power reversing back into the yard; there's a lot of GE compressor noise, as well as some really good throttle noise as the three GE's work to charge the air brakes.
