picked this up for $20 on amazon.com really interesting item. Can be used to measure the Voltage, amperage, line frequence, wattage, and KWH used.

This item is great for any dad who want to prove to their annoying kids that leaving their tv on all night is putting the whole family into the poor house.

It is also great for making sure that the items you have plugged in are not pulling more than their rated power. Or, as you will see in the video, when electric items use significantly less than their rated wattage.

NOTE: the device has a max rating of 1800 watts. Anything more than that risks burn out (some melting stories are online). A lot of consumer hair dryers use more power than this so be careful.

I hope the review and demonstration is helpful
