In 1980, on holiday in California, 20-year-old Susan Swatland was invited to join a commune of friendly young people and found herself recruited into the Unification Church of Sun Myung Moon - the Moonies. Her parents feared they would lose her forever. They flew to San Francisco to get her back but found that persuasion was useless. More drastic remedies had to be employed.
