Barbel beetle asks for help

Many barbels can make sharp creaking sounds,reproduced by rubbing the rib on the posterior edge of the forebreast against the rough surface of the midbreast.Some barbels living in the Hawaiian islands are able to make sharp sounds by rubbing the hips of the hind legs against the forewings.These creaking sounds are used by beetles in the event of a predator attack and are probably of a frightening nature.
