Both venomous and non-venomous snakes bite people, and venomous snakes may inject venom when they bite. It is rare that people die in the United States from snakebites, while in other countries there are different types of venomous snakes that kill many people.

There are only a few types of venomous snakes in the United States:

Most common: pit vipers, such as rattlesnakes, copperheads, and rattlesnakes
Rare: Coral Snakes
Most venomous bites are caused by rattlesnakes, and coral snakes are very rare.
