My name let fame to a city small
My Stategy captured a fortress tall
You'll find I'm a patriarch, author and seer,
And at Playing or fighting I've never a peer
My Weapon, the greatest in Israel's Band,
Was not made for me: it was mine second hand.

My Spouses wer many; my Children brought Grief
To me and my people; for one, life was brief.
For Purpose deceptive I doodled and drooled:
Men thought me a traitor, but I kep them fooled.

Three sins I committed against the Lord God,
And Twice felt the wrath of his chastening rod.
In faithful obedience I've Seldom an equal;
In latter-day writ you may read of my sequel.

My greatest ambition I failed to fulfill,
Yet I 'm a success: I 'll be honored until
The earth is no more, so great is my fame.
