Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey announced he is resigning from the platform he co-founded. While Dorsey’s handling of First Amendment issues and censorship was bad, it appears his replacement may be even worse as CTO Parag Agrawal is set to take over for Dorsey. Just last year, Agrawal said Twitter’s “role is not to be bound by the first amendment … focusing less on thinking about free speech, but thinking about how the times have changed.” What does this change mean for Twitter and the future of free speech in the digital world? Based on what Agrawal has said, it appears more censorship is on the horizon. Speaking of censorship, the trial of Ghislaine Maxwell began today, and the judge issued a media-wide gag order, barring all press and spectators from the courtroom. One of the most important trials of the century is going on, and no one is allowed in the room. What are they trying to hide, and who does it serve? Hopefully, the public will find out and justice will be served.
