Dictionary definition of Pestilence: A Fatal epidemic disease especially bubonic or black plague.
Pestilence in the Bible…means a deadly and overwhelming disease that affects an entire community.

The Black Plague, a disease killed over thirty percent of Europe’s population, was certainly a pestilence.

Spanish flu in 1918 killed 33 percent of the world’s population.

Pestilence many believe is one of the four horsemen of the apocalypse in the book of Revelation. Revelation 6:8 And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth. I believe this includes all pestilences since Jesus ascended into heaven through the tribulation period.

The word Pestilence is mentioned 48 times in the Old Testament and only twice in the King James New Testament. Biblical Pestilence is deadly and devastating to a people group.
